Convertible Tops - made out of American vinyl materials carry a 72 month warranty when installed on power operated frames and 24 months on manually operated frames. Tops with built-in glass or vinyl back windows or tops made in Stayfast, Topline or Sonnenland materials, carry a 24 month warranty on both power and manually operated frames. WE warranty our tops not to delaminate or shrink excessively for the warranted period, (Over 4% is considered excessive). All materials eventually fade, therefore, WE make no specific claim against fading.
Glass Rear Window Assemblies - are warranted against separation of material from the glass for 24 months. Glass distortions are warranted (some glass distortions can only be seen by tilting the glass at an angle), but labor costs are not reimbursable. Heater elements, connector clips and glass breakage are not warrantable after installation has been started, please inspect the glass and test the defroster grid carefully before starting installation.
Should a Top or Glass Assembly Prove Defective -within the first 12 months the product will be replaced. After the first year WE will start to prorate the item. WE reserve the right to request photographs of the installation prior to removal.
Electron Top - is unable to warranty any product due to:
(1) Acts of God or vandalism.
(2) Bad frame design, misaligned or malfunctioning frames.
(3) Wear or pinch holes made by the frame.
(4) Visible flaws, tears, blemishes, missing stitches or other noticeable faults after installation.
Plastic Rear Window Assemblies - There is no warranty on plastic windows after installation has been started. Currently there are no plastic windows that can withstand UV light therefore WE cannot warranty any discoloration. Distortions or wrinkles must be found prior to installation. If a defect is found, a replacement will be made. Please Do Not store the vinyl in a rolled condition for more than 12 months, discoloration and pits may result. Please Do Not allow masking tape or other adhesives to touch the vinyl window. Adhesives react with the vinyl and leave a permanent mark. WE take special care not to pack any vinyls with masking tape touching the vinyls.
Zippers - are not warranted, but with little care they can last a long time. In the case of brass zippers, a little soap rubbed on the teeth will keep the zipper working smoothly. It is advisable not to zip or unzip a rear window when the top is latched down. Unlatch the front bow and place a spacer (a block of wood between the header bow and windshield frame) to keep the tension off the rear zipper prior to attaching or detaching.
Material - WE at Electron Top use the finest materials to make our tops, however there are still some issues that are totally out of our control. Small weave knots appear on the material from the mill and are accepted as the normal imperfections by GM, Chrysler and Ford. WE pride ourselves in our inspection process and try to eliminate these imperfections from our tops, but this is not always possible. In addition, slight shade differences may be a result from cutting the material in different directions. This difference will usually disappear or be reduced after the first wash. Damages that are visable to the naked eye must be reported before the installation is started. Credit will not be considered after installation is started. Examples are: mars in vinyls, flows in vinyl, holes, tears and other blemishes.
Cleaners & Solvents - WE only recommend Raggtopp cleaners and protectants made by Wolfstein. These cleaners and protectants are the only ones endorsed by Haartz Auto Fabric, the number one manufacturer of convertible top fabrics. All vinyl material comes from the manufacturer with a protective clear coat. The use of petroleum, citrus products or abrasive cleaners may destroy this coating and void the warranty. Canvas tops and their linings should be retreated with
Raggtopp after a few washings or the use of a solvent based cement. For care and maintenance of your Electron Top product please refer to the brochure WE enclose with it.
Labor - Installation of an Electron top constitutes registration of the warranty. In the unlikely event a claim is made, WE will require proof of purchase (a photocopy of the original invoice). If a top or glass assembly of ours has proven to be defective within the first year, WE will issue a standard labor credit ($30.00 x hours listed in our catalog). There will not be any labor credit issued after 12 months. Labor credits are at Electron Top’s sole discretion and are issued as an account credit only to the original purchaser.
WE do not authorize any person or representative to alter the text of our warranty. Our “Warranty” applies to items only manufactured by Electron Top and installed by a professional upholstery shop. The warranty period starts the day the item is installed or 30 days after sale to the end user whichever comes first and is not transferable. Items that have not been installed must be returned in the original packaging, folded in the original manner and taking extreme care of the vinyl windows, if any. WE take special care in the packaging of our products when we ship them, please return them in the same way. WE cannot accept any returns over 60 days from date of sale, except by special arrangement.
